The Wildlife of Xanctsu
Aside from its wolves, Xanctsu Island is home to an amazing variety of wildlife. From a range of Canadian birds, to deer and caribou, all the way up to bears, the island's divers terrain offers everything that the animals could possibly need to thrive.
The Caribou Herds
There are currently four large caribou herds on the island.
Small Game
Hare, weasels, beavers, porcupines and skunks, birds, white tail deer, chipmunks and squirrels, fox, otter.
Our Resident Bears
We have a number of bears on the island, which is usually no problem to the townsfolk of Kaono. They've established their territories quite well, and have habits that the researchers have been closely monitoring to continue to ensure the safety of our human residents.
Khali and Koden: Khali is our three-year-old mama bear to young Koden. It is very rare that one is without the other, and Khali is both experienced and over-protective of her cub...so take care when lingering around Akemi Mountains.
Morpheus: He is the big, lazy bloke of the bunch. More interested in scavenging for food than actually hunting, he is the bear that comes in contact with the wolf packs most frequently. While he isn't overly aggressive, and rather avoids confrontation, his sheer power can be dangerous. You'll usually find him in and around Tecchni Meadow.
Anok: She's a young bear with a lot of attitude! The rebel, Anok has earned the reputation of 'Disturber of the Peace', and rightfully so; she's been known to go out of her way to give wolf packs and humans grief, though it seems to be a big game to her, rather than malacious intent. The bay and forests are her favourite spots.
